                  IBWALA joins with St. Elmo Village to
host an afternoon of spoken word, visual arts, live music
           and food celebrating holiday artistry and unity.

LOS ANGELES November 27, 2007 – Today, the Int’l Black Writers and Artists, LA (IBWALA) announces a much anticipated holiday event celebrating the artistic vision and expression of local writers, musicians and visual artists in its latest Sunday Salon event, on December 16, 2007 from 2 to 4pm at St. Elmo Village, 4830 St. Elmo Drive, Los Angeles 90019. The afternoon will feature an open mic session with poets and rappers from the area sharing their wisdom in the spirit of unity or “umoja” – Kwanzaa’s first principle. ABOUT IBWALA AND ST. ELMO VILLAGE

IBWALA (International Black Writers & Artists, Los Angeles) is a grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, motivating, educating and inspiring editors, writers, publishers, performers and community members to continue shaping the area’s artistic aesthetic to reflect the changing face of culture and experience in the community.

Founded in 1974 by Mrs. Edna Crutchfield, IBWALA celebrates over 30 years of artistic expression and publishing within its community of artists, among them New York Times Bestseller Eric Jerome Dickey and others.

St. Elmo Village, Inc. founded in the mid 1960s has continued reaching out to the community through the decades with the purpose of providing a place for individuals to explore and develop their creativity. St. Elmo Village is located in midcity Los Angeles, one block south of Venice Blvd. and two blocks east of La Brea Avenue at 4830 St. Elmo Drive.
