Cherise Davis
Editor, Simon and Schuster
Cherise Davis, of
Simon & Schuster's imprint Touchstone/Fireside, will join Conference '04
Saturday, August 14 by participating in the Publisher's Roundtable -- a
workshop that will
highlight the once mysterious, but still tricky world of getting published and
sold.
Davis will be joined
by Dr. Rosie Milligan, Maxine Thompson of Black
Butterfly Press, Denise Pines of the Smiley Group.
Davis, a
Senior Editor at Touchstone Fireside, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will help prove and break some of the
myths surrounding mainstream publishers and aspiring black writers.
Davis has built a strong list of fiction and
non-fiction titles covering a broad spectrum of topics (spirituality,
relationships, business, career development, parenting, health, pop
reference, pop/youth/hip hop culture, humor, American history, illustrated
books and strong African American fiction).
Most recently she published a self-help title for
teenage girls (Blueprint For My Girls by formerly self published
Yasmin Shiraz)a memoir by sitcom star George Lopez (Why You Crying?);
Truth Be Told, a novel from Essence best-selling author Victoria
Christopher Murray; and Textured Tresses by celebrity hairstylist,
Diane Dacosta.
Cherise has also worked with authors Michael Baisden,
Nelson George, Stedman Graham, Paule Marshall, Charles Johnson, Henry
Louis Gates, Jr., Cornel West, and many, many more. |
