2.) Sign up online by August 10, and submit entry fee at the door the evening of the event. Those who send entry fee in the mail (IBWALA, POB 43576, L.A., CA 90043) will receive first-come, first served placement on the program. All others will be listed at IBWALA's discretion. 3.) Although IBWALA does not support censorship, please limit profanity/explicit language as this is billed as a family event. 4.) Performances may be no longer than 3 minutes. 5.) Bring your family and friends -- the more people cheering you on, the better you may look in the eyes of the judges. Poetry slam admission is $5 per person and pre-registration is recommended! 6.) Winner(s) will be announced at the end of the Slam and invited to attend the Saturday evening Awards Dinner and Dance. Winner(s) will get one free ticket to the dinner. 7.) IBWALA's Conference '04 theme is "Where we were, where we are, and where we are headed." Entrants should select one aspect of the celebration theme (past, present or future), and perform an original work. 8.) Entrants must arrive by 5:00pm to sign in at the registration desk and submit payment, if applicable. 9.) The performance will be outdoors on an amphitheatre stage. Be prepared for a no-mic performance -- just in case. 10.) Musical, or any other type of accompaniment (dancer, props, etc.) is allowed and encouraged. 11.) Entrants must stay for duration of slam to be considered for prize. 12.) Format of slam may be in two or three rounds -- be prepared to perform a second or third piece of your choice if you make it to round two/three. 13.)
